Eugene Z. Bertrand is a rising leader in social work and justice advocacy, currently pursuing his Master of Social Work at Columbia University. With a passion for bridging the gap between systems and people, he is advancing innovative approaches that unite law, mental health, and community care. His work spans on forensic social work, and trauma-informed practice.
Eugene’s advocacy is grounded in resilience. Overcoming challenges of domestic violence and a learning disability, he now channels his story into empowering others and expanding access.
He is also the author of the forthcoming book Resilience: Breaking the Chains, a groundbreaking exploration of domestic violence among men and the urgent need for visibility, solidarity, and healing. Through both his scholarship and his storytelling, Eugene is reshaping how we think about justice, equity, and care—always centering the human experience at the heart of systemic change.
